I had smoked ever since I was twelve and by the time I was sixteen, I was given permission to smoke in the house. In those days we had no idea of the dangers of smoking.

One of the warmest Christmas memories that I have was the year that I was Santa Claus. I was a young, substitute teacher with a new family just starting out in life.

It’s just a small, white envelope stuck among the branches of our Christmas tree. No name, no identification, no inscription. It has peeked through the branches of our tree for the past 10 years or so.

Once upon a time, there was a man who looked upon Christmas as a lot of humbug.

If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love, I’m just another decorator.

and a New Year of health, happiness and prosperity.

Christmas reminds us we are not alone. We are not unrelated atoms, bouncing and ricocheting amid aliens, but are a part of something, which holds and sustains us.

The merry family gatherings -
The old, the very young;
The strangely lovely way they
Harmonize in carols sung.

Somehow, not only for Christmas,
But all the long year through,
The joy that you give to others,
