When during difficult times we live
As a good example of what I means to have faith;
When trying to make sense and finding a new understanding
Of the ancient wisdom the scriptures contain,
We humbly bend our knees in love and devotion
Before the child in the manger;
When a helping hand reaches out to someone in need;
When someone wipes away the things that in the days of yore
Would have separated two souls;
When instead they now turn towards each other with love and respect –
It’s Christmas in our time.
Whenever someone
Brings renewed hope to a troubled world,
And a fresh understanding of the meaning of salvation and redemption;
Comfort and help to those in despair;
Acts justly, truthfully and unselfishly,
Without thinking about their own advantage;
Feels compassion and enters with love
Into another soul’s suffering,
It’s Christmas in our time.
When human souls learn to love faithfully and true, the way
God, the Great Father/Mother of all life, loves us all.
When we understand that God sent Its Son to
Our world in human form, to act as our teacher and guide,
To show us how to save and redeem ourselves and our world;
When in the symbol of the child in the manger
We recognise the great love of our Divine Parents
For us, their earthly children;
When with deep gratitude we accept the coming of this love
Into our own heart and share it wherever we can,
It’s Christmas in our time.
When, for the people of today, all these things happen,
Christmas is the long promised feast of joy;
When in the child in the manger we rediscover our own child,
We love the beautiful old stories and songs all the more,
Now that we recognise that all along they did tell the truth;
When we rejoice because we now know that the only thing
We and our world needed was a fresh understanding,
There comes a renewal of faith and appreciation of
God’s great wisdom, truth, mercy and love;
And it’s Christmas in our time.
