It’s been a long long trip down this long long road
With detours and distractions and bearing my heavy load

I’m trying real hard to make things work
Doing things my way is just making it worst

I don’t understand, I’m very confused
The more I try to be good, the more I get used and abused

What’s wrong with this picture?  Is God watching out there?
What do I have to do?  Does God even care?!

God, If you’re out there and watching over me
Tell me and show me, please help me believe

This road that I’m on is very destructive, very lonely and very unhappy
I need help and guidance, I need love and understanding
I need to survive, I just want to be happy!

Child, I am here, so please never fear
I am watching and waiting so don’t shed a tear

That road that you’re on with detours and distractions
You chose to take in spite of my actions

I gave you directions of straight and narrow
You went right or left when you didn’t have to

Those heavy loads that you are bearing
Are so unnecessary, your burdens I’m carrying

And every time you do things your way
I shake my head, for your way is not my way

You keep trying to do good, but good according to who?
My standards are high, I’m the one who will judge you!

You’re destructive and lonely because you don’t trust me
You want help and guidance but you have to allow me…

To use you and mold you and guide your steps
Supply all your needs and give you rest

I’m loving and understanding and I want you to know
If you love me and trust me I will run the show

Don’t frown or be sad, surrender to me
Just give me your all, I will set you free

That long long trip down that long long road
will no longer be if you heed my word

No matter your trouble, no matter your pain
My love covers everything, with me you will gain

I’ve been patiently waiting for you to confess
That your life without me is a complete mess

I’ll pick up the pieces, I’ll mend your heart
I’ll put your life in order that was falling apart

But you have to trust me and give me your all
In return I will bless you in spite of your flaws

Put me first in all that you do
My child, I love you, let me show you what I can do!
