I Said A Prayer For You Today

I said a prayer for you today
And know God must have heard.
I felt the answer in my heart
Although He spoke not a word.
I didn’t ask for wealth or fame
(I knew you wouldn’t mind).
I asked for priceless treasure rare
Of a more lasting kind.
I prayed that He’d be near you
At the start of each new day
To grant you health and blessings fair,
And friends to share your way.
I asked for happiness for you
In all things great and small
But that you’d know his loving care
I prayed the most of all.

There is the possibility that my granny wrote this poem. If she DID write it, and not swipe, I feel she’d be pleased others are taking credit authorship. She was the type that published her poems in huge books with a bunch of other amature poets. This is her reading it with others back in November 1984:

Actually the author of this poem is Margaret Gould who was a staff writer for Gibson Greeting Cards. It was copyrighted in 1957 by Gibson in 1957 and I have a copy of the actual greeting card. I also have a letter from their legal counsel.

its rainin”prayers…the day is cloudy with a chill in the air.i heard several voices that sound like prayers.lord god,you took me outside so i could hear the rainin’ of prayers.i grabed onto the word of believe.father god, you took me to my knees.i felt in my heart that the of prayers was not just for me. i cry for you that you may believe. quick jump in .. its rainin’ prayers-come and get all you need,it is for free!hope was all around me as the mist in the air. the lord saw our tears and heard our prayers. thank you god ! for the rain of prayers !!
