I Thank My God Each Day

For many years I cried and thought, why did God abandon me
I have read my Bible faithfully and prayed on bended knee.

I went to church each Sunday and I sat in the front pew,
I wanted to make sure to my preacher I was in view.

Still nothing good ever came my way,
my life was such a mess.

I hurried through each and everyday
for others I cared less!

Don`t bother me today I said… I do not have the time
To take my child to the park, to give the poor a dime.

I laughed at the homeless man and ridiculed his clothes,
I never stopped to think or care about his woes.

Then God said to me one night, in a dream so coldly true
do unto others as you would have them do to you.

I wept and begged forgiveness to my Savior up above,
I will do better Lord, and give others of my love.

And from that glorious day to the beautiful here and now,
I thank my God each day, for opening my eyes and heart
and showing me the way.
