We wouldn’t enjoy the sunshine
if we never had the rain.
We wouldn’t appreciate good health
if we never experienced pain.

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhibited
island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned
the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.

At first I saw God as my observer, my judge, keeping track of the things I did wrong, so as to know whether I merited heaven or hell when I die. He was out there sort of like a president. I recognized his picture when I saw it, but I really didn’t know Him.

I went to the Lord/s Clinic to have my routine check-up and I confirmed I was ill. When Jesus took my blood pressure, He saw I was low in tenderness. When he read my temperature, the thermometer registered 40 degrees of anxiety.

Life is like a train ride. It read. We get on. We ride. We get off. We get back on and ride some more.

Our lives are made up of a million moments,
spent in a million different ways.
Some are spent searching for
love, peace, and harmony.
Others are spent surviving day by day.

“Did you think that I didn’t hear you when you cried out to Me in your time of need?
Truly, I did hear you.
If I hear the final cry of every sparrow that falls in death, would I not hear you?
“Did you wonder if I was listening when you prayed to Me for an answer to the troubles that weighed you down?

Because so much in life is out of your control is all the more reason to control those things that you can.
One thing you can absolutely control is your thinking. It’s a good thing too, because the Bible tells us that “As a Man Thinketh, So is He” (Proverbs 23:7)!
Managing your life really only comes down to managing your thoughts. And, to keep things even more simple, there are really only two things you can do with your thoughts, and they are…

What brought about your current circumstances? Have you ever really thought hard about it?
Consider your job, your finances, your health, your relationships. Do you ever wonder what brought about the conditions of each area? How much of it was God? How much of it was you, or someone you know?
“Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.” If God orders our steps, then we can be certain that He has our best interest at heart. Some areas where He leads us may not always be pleasant, but it’s all good, and will have a good ending.
